Jenny Maybee studied classical piano for 20 years. She studied jazz & composition since 1989 with Doug Davis, David Arnay, Julie Kelly, Michelle Weir and William Kraft. Jenny has also taught piano for 10 years and voice for three years.

Jenny began playing piano at the age of four and soon was composing and singing her own songs. She played flute, cello and percussion in school. She also loved to improvise, so her classical piano teacher, Liz Cervantes, suggested she study jazz with Doug Davis. Jenny continued classical piano during high school and college with Yvonne Endicott.

At age 16, Jenny started teaching private piano lessons. She played her first professional gigs while in high school after she and her classmates convinced their school to start a jazz ensemble. They put together a big band outside of school and armed with Jenny's grandfather's charts began playing swing around town. Jenny was also a member of an improvisational theater troupe for which she wrote and performed all the music.
